Smooth, vocoded gothic cadence sets the scene for this stellar offering by Isabella Amarga. Seldom do I find truly unique music, but “Bad Girl” is one-of-a-kind. Twinkly lo-fi melodies over a satisfying series of percussion elements lay out a perfect foundation for Isabella’s calm, but confident delivery. An air-locked vocal mix provides the listener with an intimate relatability to the venerable lyrics which cycle back-and-forth between English and Portuguese. It’s really refreshing to see genres which are dominated by the English language getting face-lifted with elements from a different culture. After all, the beauty behind songwriting stems from verbiage and the delivery of it. Isabella is just pushing that idea further by expressing herself and delivering her message in every way she can.
