Capitol Mar - Luv ft. Chizz Capo
Posterized bubblegum visuals compliment Capitol Mar’s new pitched up trap anthem, Luv. Pink skies, KAWS figures, and ominous studio lighting help to set the mood of this electric hit. While paying homage to the high-pitch pioneer 645AR, Capitol Mar is able to purposefully add his own flair to a seldomly emulated sub-genre. This record has an immense level of bounce and I found myself nodding my head from start to finish. The second verse is greeted by Chizz Capo who was just seen on ripe—tanjerines. for his Next Up (Remix) with Lano, Bookbag Boonie, and Tre Suave. He adds a refreshing vocal break and further diversifies the track.
While many people have associated 645AR’s falsetto rap with meme culture, my opinion is that Capitol Mar has executed the task at hand at a cut above the competition. The melodies are stronger, the harmonies add texture, and the aforementioned bounce is what pulls it all together. This song does exactly what it sets out to do and for that I see a lot of potential. I’m hoping to see more of this vocal style and I’m ready to watch what else Capitol Mar is sonically capable of!
